My mom, who is 80, snapped this up as she has recently started sewing, something she hasn't done since high school :sew: where her big project was an apron (and she spent hours looking for material to match the package picture before realizing she could choose any color :D ). Since she hasn't shown the least interest in fashion since she quit being a fashion editor 50 years ago I was surprised that she taken an interest in Victorian things (after I sent her some photos of steam punk outfits). Now maybe it's my grandmothers turn she turned 100 last month. Wish she had saved her old treadle machine I'd have loved to play with that.

I really wish I had more leather scraps to pass on! I only get them occasionally.

If you don't mind destroying perfectly good clothing, and have need of smallish pieces, I've been finding all the leather and suede I could need at Salvation Army stores. Just recently made a pair of infant blacksmithing chaps out of a suede and shearling coat for the baby son of a farrier.

Agreed, Mary... I have a pair of butter soft suede pants that, while they're a size 2 and would NEVER fit me, I got at a designer shop for $3 after someone tore the zipper out. And wouldn't you know - a size 2 pair of pants is just about the perfect quantity of leather for a corset for a size 12 girl!
