Chantilly Lace

Postby elensari » Fri Jan 25, 2008 4:30 pm

Hello all,

I am going to be moving, and need to thin out my stash. I thought I would give you first stab before I put things up on Ebay.

First of all I have:

4 yards of original black Chantilly lace. It is 60" wide, finished on both sides. These are pictures of the body and the deep finished edge. The other edge is much narrower and not so decorative.

There are some few small breaks and a couple of small tears near the top edge, but being 60 inches wide, I was not worried about it. I decided against the outfit I was going to use it on.

I will be going through things, and make a more comprehensive list.

If you are interested, let me know.

Oooooh, Kelly... I can't wait to see what you decide to cull. I'm sorry to hear you have to do it, but given the beauty of your creations, I'm sure I'll be interested to see what you would like to offer up. What are you asking for the lace? It's beautiful! :::drool:::

I basically paid $75 for the lace. That includes shipping. I am not interested in making a profit from you ladies. I would feel better about it going to someone who actually understands.

The fabrics are harder to decide on because I have collected them in outfits. SO of course busting up the outfit is difficult. But really, what will I possibly do with so many victorian outfits, when I have only one event.

Oh god!! *faints* I have LONG admired your Moulin Rouge suit!!

What are your measurements, by the way? Before I go selling my soul to buy that, I need to know if it would fit.

Well, the cool thing about this suit is I do not wear it with a corset. I can, but I don't. I designed the under "vest" from a corset pattern and boned it that way. I do recommend a button hook, but that is because the buttons are vintage and small. I wear it over a blouse during the day under the bolero jacket, and I remove the blouse and the bolero for dinner, most sexy.

My uncorseted measurements are : 34/24/36
corseted: 32/23/35 arm length 25
Heather's skirt length is perfect walking length on me.

I add an inch to the side length of my corset from the waist up.

If you wanted to get this, I would fix a couple of things, and I was about to shorten the underskirt, because I was tired of trying to wear heels on pavement. So I can leave it alone, or shorten it to your length. But wait, there's more...I also have a bolero jacket from J Peterman, that just happened to be the same color velvet. It is nice over a blouse when it is too hot for the vest and the wool jacket. I was going to make one of Heather's corselets to wear with it.

Also I would include all the scrap that I have from making it, in case you want to modify, or make other pieces.

Anyway, here are some more pictures of it.

Oh, that's what I was afraid of. You are much thinner. I have an uncorseted waist of 27.5. With a corset, I can't do much better than 25.

Le sigh! Jason can stop hiding the good silver now!

I do hope the Moulin Rouge suit finds a very good and appreciative home!! By the way, the other gowns on your photo site are STUNNING. I also love that dolman!

-le sigh-

No worries. I appreciate the consideration. If you ever want the asymmetrical jacket pattern, let me know, and I will pop you a copy.

And thanks for looking at the other pictures. :)

Just as more torture, I just took pictures of the Edwardian dress. I had forgotten it when I went on my "lets put all my dresses on my new dress form" spree.

Elensari~

I would love a copy of the jacket pattern! What can I do for you in exchange?

I'm in tortures over that blue gown! And how wonderful of you to post cool pictures showing the construction. It's so beautifully made. I'd pull my hair out trying to construct it myself, I can tell!

So back to the issue at hand...:

I still have the chantilly lace, and I just put up some pictures in preparation for listing on ebay.

There are two hats from Ren fair made by an acquaintance of mine, and the rest are of five pieces of vintage clothing. Two jackets, 1870's, and 1880's, a wool coat from the 1890's, a cut velvet dolman, and a curly wool stole, that may be more 1920's or 30's.

If you have any questions or offers to make please PM me.

Thanks for looking,
~kelly
