everything you ever wanted to know about corsets can hopefully be answered here

I am wanting to make an Edwardian dress this year. However, I have never made a corset before. Would it be easier for me to make the Victorian corset for the dress instead of the Edwardian corset? If so, which Victorian corset would you recommend? LM100 or TV110? I like both corsets, but am unsure which would be best under the edwardian dress. Thanks for your help.

I haven't made an edwardian corset yet, but I am pretty sure that you'll need the edwardian corset under edwardian dresses. It has a different sillhouette then victorian ones. And Heather's patterns are great to sew.

I agree with MaryLou. If you're making an Edwardian dress you really need an Edwardian corset. The silhouette is completely different for the Victorian corset.

That's what I thought. However, I am nervous to make the Edwardian corset on my first corset try!

The Edwardian corset is harder than the Victorian, so you may want to start with the Victorian one anyway. I really like Heather's pattern; it produces very nice results and is easy to follow. Lots of people like the Laughing Moon, but I think it turns out like a tube unless you do a lot of futzing with it.

The Edwardian corset gives an Edwardian posture, but I hear from my wife that it's more difficult to cope with that posture than the Victorian. If you think that is no problem, go for the Edwardian corset.
Else pick the TV110!

Maybe buy both the TV patterns look them over then decide which to make first. While the Edwardian would certainly be better for the Edwardian period most of us have made do, until now! with our TV110s for both periods if you decide to do the 110 first.
