Testing a new pattern for Heather

Postby Laura » Sun Jun 10, 2012 1:15 pm

I was browsing the Delineators and found this bodice.

I had Heather make up a new pattern for it. This is my testing of the new pattern. I really like it. I'm in the second to largest size so I was worried what it would look like, but short of losing a ton of weight I am pleased with how it turned out. I still have buttons to put on and fringe to add to the sleeves. And I will have to make a matching hat.
I thought I would give a heads up and share this new pattern with you.
Heather just has to finish the instructions.

Heather have you ever thought about offering pre-ordering?

I'm not sure I could keep track of pre-orders. But, I might encourage me to get stuff finished sooner.

*gasps* I LOVE the bodice design! And I love the color contrast of the lapel and the little triangles at the bottom, Laura! I was going to do an NF dress this year, but I will put that off and definitely make another EB dress if this comes out in the near future. Awesome!

Oh my, yes please!

Add me to the list of would-be pre-order peeps - or if you need someone to test the pattern......

Love the pattern, love the fringe. How did you make the fringe?

Hello Iris,
The fringe was easy. It is two fringes together. I bought the bullion fringe in cream from Joannes. That's usually in the main trim section. Then I added a brown tassel fringe from the upholstery section. This particular tassel fringe has a bead at the head of the fringe. Joannes has it in many colors right now. Just use your 50%off coupon. That really helps with the price. I sewed the cream bullion to the underside of the fabric with a zig-zag stitch and the brown tassel fringe to the top of the bodice and over-skirt also with a zig-zag stitch. This may not be as nice as some of those really overly expensive upholstery fringes you can buy down town, but these two, I think, did a nice job for what I wanted.
Thanks for noticing.

Thanks everyone!

Now, I just have to prof read the instructions and give them back to Heather. Then you all should see this pattern on the Web site this coming week. I really think you will be pleased with it.

And the new pattern is ready!! Look for it in the shopping pages at:

Or read a short story about it on the blog:

Argh, I wish I could buy it right now! Stupid money. But trust me, it will be mine. I love the jacket/vest look, and I'll more than likely be altering my NF bodice pattern for it someday.

I do like the design of the other bodice you originally picked out. With those sleeves, it looks like a bodice version of the mantle, and it made me think it could be made into a fitted jacket. Very cool.

We should keep this topic going! I'd like to see what everyone else does with the new pattern.
