Find out how to get that dang thing to fit.

I'm having an idiot moment

Postby Dana » Thu Apr 26, 2007 12:58 pm

Trying to fit my teagown.

The waistline of my mock up falls lower than my natural waist.

Also, the raw edge of the back neck edge falls lower than it should. (Although this is not the case for the front pieces.)

In other words, if I lift up the whole thing to match the mock up waist with my waist, it's a better fit (aside from the armholes and front neck being too high)

So the idiot moment question is 'what do I do to fix it?'

The waist line at the front usually falls a little low. I think the reason was they wnated to be sure to get coverage if you ended the bodice at the waist. So you can kinda ignore that line, so long as it fits well. But the back should have the waist at the waistline and then reach up high enough tot he nape of the neck. If it is falling short, then you may need to lengthen between armpit and nape of neck. Then you can shorten the front shoulder to help hold it all up there.

Thank you. I'll give that a try. (I can tell it will take a full day to get it right, I'm so terrible at fitting).
