I'd love to get together, even if we don't dress up this time. I only have one dress in England anyway, so I might as well save it until we can all be together! :)

I would be struggling to get down to Southampton I think, sorry! I'd definitely be up for a day at the museums. The V&A is the only one I've been to so far...

Joelle, how do you feel about this idea?

A bit less keen on London myself, though I love the V&A and haven't been there in many years. I was looking forward to going somewhere to dress up and that would be a bit more complicated in London (taking my gown on the train?) whereas I was going to drive to the other places. Don't fancy driving to London much (I get lost!) and it's hard to park.

Susan, just seen your message - I'll have a look at the train fares to see if it could be a possibility. Do you live in London yourself?

I'm in Uxbridge - it's about 15 miles out of London, the last stop on the Piccadilly and Metropolitan lines.

You suggested a trip to Bath early on, which I'd love to go to. I also really want to go up to Beamish, the open air museum in County Durham, at some stage. I'm only in England until September next year, so got to fit in as much as I can before I go home!

Susan, we went to Beamish a couple of years ago with the children and I have to say, I thought it was fantastic. I particularly enjoyed wandering around the re-created houses, it was like being transported in time. The children thought it was great too and we were only sorry we didn't arrive earlier in the day to spend more time there.
Bath is always beautiful and very close for me so I'd be happy to meet there anytime.

Are we still planning to reschedule? Judging from what I've heard of everyones schedule we should start planning now if we want to get this in by the end of the summer!

Gemma, I'm glad you wrote. I tried to contact Tiffers by pm but got no reply. I am bit disappointed as I was really looking forward to the visit and now we are busy the last two weekends in July and we are likely to be away a good part of August too!
Maybe September? What does everybody else think? How are your schedules ladies? In the meantime, I just hope we hear from Tiffers eventually.

September sounds good! You could try getting Tiffers over at the caroline belles board, she seems to visit there more regularly.

Hello! I'm here!! Computer was playing silly buggers and not letting me log on :(

Sorted now though :)

I'm still up for visiting Breamore but more likely to be available towards the end of summer, beginning of Autumn, maybe September?

We could always have an out of costume away day to Bath if people like the thought of that? I just think Bath might be difficult to organise in costume! Everything is kind of spread out and the costume museum is not in the centre of the town.

Another place to maybe visit is the Blandford Costume Museum...

Your thoughts?

Yes to all of the above! I am free on the weekend of 5/6 September, but probably busy for the next 2 weekends after that. Let's do SOMETHING, I really want to meet you all!

Hi all,

I have a wedding on September 5th, and can't do sundays. Might be able to do an afternoon, I'll have to check the invitation but I think it would be very tight!

Definately want to see braemore house still.

I LOVE bath, but I can see that victorian costume might make it difficult to get around - if I remember rightly you usually have to park out of town and bus in. Of course, the Jane Austen festival is on in september, and if we were going during that I would just HAVE to make a regency dress - in fact now you've reminded me I might have to go anyway!

The museum at blandford is amazing, from the outside and the leaflets it looks like its just a small collection but there is room after room of fabulous stuff!

So I guess thats a yes to all of them from me!

Hi all,
Glad to hear from Tiffers again as I'm still really keen to see Breamore House... In fact I was sitting here feeling sorry for myself that I have had nothing at all to go to all summer (victorian wise I mean). September is looking good for me (any weekend at the moment). So if we want to try to agree a new date for Breamore House, that would be great. I could also do Bath though a shame we wouldn't be able to dress up for that.
I look forward to hearing some more from you all.

Oh Tiffers...

Are we still doing this? We have three takers so far for September 26th, but we need our organiser on board! Or failing that we could go somewhere else! I'm so looking forward to meeting some people who won't think its weird to dress up!

Gemma,
Had just looked at the thread recently and felt sad that it seemed to have gone "dead" again. I've been longingly looking at my dresses hoping I'd get a chance to wear them before it gets too cold (it'll soon be a year since I last got to attend something!). Anyway, hope we get some more replies and that we can do it as the 26th is coming around fast.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Bump!
So is this on or off? Or just postponed again?
I will pm Tiffers of the belle alley in case she's still having trouble here and see what she thinks
