How do I sell my collection?

Postby Erin » Tue Aug 04, 2009 6:40 am

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I need some advice. For 15+ years I've been collecting antique clothes. Now, my collection has reached the point where I'd like to sell some of it off to make room (and $$) for more. Does anyone have suggestions as to how to do this? I'd prefer to work with a broker, someone who's familiar with antique textiles. I have very little experience with eBay, and so am not comfortable posting them there myself. All suggestions and thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

I think ebay is your best bet for selling something quickly. I suppose you could look on the net for the antique clothing dealers (sorry, I've lost the links long ago) and see if they would be interested in purchasing your items, or selling them on consignment.

I totally agree, I would like to see them also. And there are a bunch of people on this board who know textiles and fabrics. And we will give you honest answers, not just what you want to hear. :D

I promise, before I sell anything, I will take tons of pics and post them for all to see. As for honest answers, I'm not sure I can handle them ;) For what I plan to sell at the moment, I don't expect to fetch high prices. I think I'm going to sell off some of my "study" clothes. Thanks for your help and suggestions :)

I'd love to see them posted on the Swapmeet board.
